Ruined Cakes Still Sweet

ORLANDO, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The birthday cake you ordered may be all wrong, but it’s still a sweet treat.

In her book Cake Wrecks: When Professional Cakes Go Hilariously Wrong (Andrews McMeel Publishing), Jen Yates compiles photos of the funniest cakes foibles.

People have celebrated birthdays, weddings, and baby showers with cakes that accidentally have decorations resembling penises, or with obviously misunderstood messages written on them, like: “Best Wishes Suzanne Under Neath That We Will Miss You.”

Yates says, “It seems obvious that you wouldn’t want ‘underneath that’ written on your cake, but everybody has those days at work when they’re mentally numb and make a goof. The thing is, in a bakery, the evidence is more tangible.”

Luckily, even a poorly decorated cake tastes delicious, and some even think the messed up cake is sweeter than if it were perfect.

Yates explains, “People appreciate a wrecked cake. It has a funny story attached to it.”
