Thats the message from Kevin OKeeffe, co-founder of World Hoop Day, a peace rally happening in San Francisco on September 9.
At the event, OKeeffe and other hula hoopers will give out the old school toy to promote peace, and one hula hoop can do a world of good.
He says, Ultimately, peace resides within all of us. But I can say that hula hoops unequivocally bring tremendous joy to people. The healing stories I hear are amazing. Hula hoop is not just a whimsical pursuit.
The organization also brings hoops to underprivileged children around the world, mainly because fun is something most people forget poor children need.
OKeeffe explains, A lot of organizations provide nutrition, medicine, or education to children in need. Theres an additional need, though it seems trite, for children to play.
