‘Survivor’ Leaves A Layer Of Grime

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Competing on Survivor is a dirty job, but someone’s got to do it.

It was a filthy existence living in the jungles of Brazil while competing on Survivor: Tocantins, and Sierra Reed learned that right after getting the boot last Thursday (Apr. 30).

Reed says being without simple luxuries like body wash, shampoo, and a toothbrush was like nothing she’s ever experienced.

She adds, “We had to dig a hole to go to the bathroom and wipe our bums with leaves. Not even Survivorman [Les Stroud] has to do that. He gets to go to a nice hotel when he’s done.”

The harsh conditions in Tocantins was especially evident when Reed took her first shower since being on the show: “I almost took a rock to my skin. I thought I was super tan, but it was just dirt. I was like an animal.”

Survivor airs Thursdays on NBC.
