‘Idol’ Cast-Off Has Hometown Pride

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Missing out on a major hometown triumph has made American Idol eliminee Anoop Desai feel an excruciating pain.

He says he’s proud the University of North Carolina Tar Heels took home the NCAA championship trophy, but he’s sad he wasn’t there to celebrate.

Desai, who was voted off Idol Wednesday night, says it was unbearable not being on Franklin Street with everyone else. “I can’t wait to come back to do some celebrating. I love North Carolina. I like to think of it as my natural habitat.”

Though the singer is excited to embark on his pop music career, he claims nothing can beat his hometown of Chapel Hill.

He says, “I want to sit on my couch, wake up at noon, and get a sunrise biscuit.”

Idol airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays on FOX.
