Gross who played caring, funny dad Steven Keaton on the 80s sitcom Family Ties says devoted fans of the family series are always asking him for fatherly advice, but he cant deliver.
He cant live up to fans expectations of Steven Keatons perfect pops persona because, in his words, I didnt write Stevens advice on the show, the writers did!
Although Gross doesnt pull daddy duty like his sitcom character, he does appreciate the praise he gets from fans.
He explains, People tell me that I was the dad they never had, or that they learned to be a dad from watching me on Family Ties. Im always so amazed and humbled. I never realized I could make a difference like that.
Gross believes fans resonated with Family Ties because it was a show you could watch as a family and featured topics that could be discussed around the dinner table.
