‘Weird’ Musician Plays Rapid Repertoire

PITTSBURGH (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One quirky musician promises to crank out tunes in one minute or less.

Since 1986, “Weird Paul” Petroskey has penned more than 600 silly songs about random, everyday things, with titles like “Wine Coolers,” “I Got Drunk At Chuck E. Cheese,” and “Steve Austin Ripped Off Bigfoot’s Arm.”

While some ditties are standard in length, others are a minute or less, resulting in fast and furious stage shows.

Petroskey and his band once played 13 songs in three minutes and 26 seconds at a bar, and this Saturday (Apr. 14), they’ll attempt to play all of their songs that are under one minute at another gig.

That’s 47 songs in total, and Petroskey anticipates his group will take short breaks in between to “tell a few stupid jokes.”

The quickie songs on the repertoire – which were inspired by thoughts or jokes that Petroskey thought could use accompanying music – include a nine-second tune called “Pay For Your Tacos Safely And Securely,” about using PayPal at Taco Bell, and the four-second fan favorite, “You’re a Jerk,” comprised of only the titular lyric.
