Bad Travel Experience Prepares Reality TV Racers

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Past travel terror didn’t scare off one adventurous couple from competing on The Amazing Race.

A few years back, married couple Steve and Linda Cole had a horrifying ordeal when they were robbed of all their money and identifications while vacationing in Guatemala, but that didn’t deter them from competing on The Amazing Race.

The couple, who were eliminated from the cross-country reality rat race this past Sunday (Feb. 22), says that horrible experience didn’t ruin their time running around Europe on the show.

Steve says, “We felt pretty secure. We took precautions before we left. We took our wedding rings and jewelry off. We knew what to do and what not to do to avoid another incident.”

Adds Linda, “Knowing the camera crews were there helped too.”

Though traveling for the show was stressful, the Coles felt safe, especially after seeing a few kids smoking pot on the street.

The Amazing Race airs Sundays on CBS.
