Actress Has Mommy Moment With Cuba Gooding, Jr.

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actress Kimberly Elise recently played mommy to Cuba Gooding Jr., but for the record, the numbers don’t add up.

Elise – best known for Dairy Of A Mad Black Woman – plays Gooding Jr.’s dedicated mom in the true TV flick, Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story, premiering Saturday (Feb. 7) on TNT.

In reality, Elise is only about nine months older than her onscreen son, which made for a running joke on the set.

She laughs, “I would giggle to myself during takes because it really was pretty hysterical that I was playing his mom. But we’re actors – that’s what we do!”

Elise plays Sonya Carson, a single mother who inspired her son to study and work hard so he could rise above their inner-city roots and become a renowned pediatric neurosurgeon.

Elise relates because she too is a single mother of two girls, a 10-year-old named Butterfly and an 18-year-old named AjaBleu, who appreciate that Mom “mans the ship and keeps it afloat.”
