Swamp Buggy Racing is a major sporting event in Naples, Florida, where rowdy rednecks come in droves to watch high- powered, swamp boats race down muddy waters.
Spokesperson Sandy Montz says, Its like NASCAR on water. It is very wild. There are quite a few rednecks. They camp out there and party all night. They cant get too rowdy because well ban them, and they dont want to miss the opportunity to see buggies.
The exciting, sometimes dangerous environment may be the reason for the huge hillbilly turnout.
Montz explains that the buggies often flip over in monster crashes, leaving the driver underwater until a rescue team can save them.
Montz says, Theres boats racing around and people diving into the water. The driver can drown if they dont get them out. The crashes are very exciting for everyone.
