College Never Smelled So Good

ARLINGTON, Va. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Now, anyone can smell like their college campus, minus the stinky beer.

Masik Collegiate Fragrances is a fragrance company that creates aromas inspired by universities like Penn State and the University of North Carolina.

Company president Katie Masich says the essence of a university is bottled according to a few factors.

They take school colors, flowers or trees located on site, and campus landmarks into consideration when creating a scent.

She says, “We take all those things and link aromatics to them. Like if a school color is orange, we’d use mandarin or orange scents. We want to get the spirit of a school because memories are linked to scent.”

But there’s one college smell that definitely won’t be bottled.

Masich says, “While beer is a big part of college campuses, we don’t put in our fragrances. I don’t think anyone wants to smell like beer. We did put bourbon aromatics in Louisiana State’s fragrance though.”
