Rebellious Teenage Turkey Flies The Coop

TAMPA, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One frozen turkey is finally growing up.

Tom the Turkey is a 12-pound gobbler that’s been living in his owner’s freezer for nearly two decades.

Every year, Tom’s dad, Adam Yahre, throws the clucker a bird-brained birthday party, and this Saturday (Dec. 6), Tom turns 18 and will finally fly the coop.

Yahre says, “We’re throwing him a graduation party, so he’ll be in cap and gown. He’s thinking of going into the military, the Air Force obviously, so he’ll get into shape.”

According to Yahre, Tom has been a very rebellious teen bird, failing school, drinking heavily, and sneaking chicks into his freezer at night.

Yahre laments, “The problem is he thinks he’s too cool. The fact that he’s frozen might have something to do with it. We tried to punish him by putting him in the oven, but we just couldn’t. We love him too much.”

Now that Tom is officially an adult, Yahre hopes he’ll get his act together, enroll at Purdue University, and ruffle less feathers.
