Florida Christmas Trades Snow For Sun & Surf

ORLANDO, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – For folks in Florida, Christmas is about sun and surf, not snowmen and blizzards.

Jazz pop group Planet9’s new song, “Florida Christmas,” is an ode to the sizzlin’ way Floridians celebrate the holiday season.

With temperatures at a warm 80 degrees and not a snowflake in sight, Planet9 frontman Drew Bentley can safely say he spends Christmas in paradise.

He loves being able to wear shorts and flip-flops in the middle of winter and says Floridians get instant gratification from their Christmas gifts.

He explains, “Instead of just looking at my new golf clubs or surf board, I can actually get out there and use them!”

Although many dream of a white Christmas, Bentley and his jazz posse don’t think snow makes things any more “Christmasy.”

In fact, they once toured in the Northeast and Bentley remembers it being “so damn cold” he never wants to feel the frost nipping at his nose again.

Bentley says the only people in the Sunshine State who ever complain about the weather are “displaced Yankees” who long for snow.
