Halloween: The Most Stress-Free Holiday?

DURHAM, N.C. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Halloween (Oct. 31) may very well be the most stress-free holiday on the calendar.

Stress expert Dr. Redford Williams considers Halloween the “least demanding” holiday of all because there’s no pressure to buy people presents or cook an elaborate turkey dinner.

Since there are no expectations, it’s really just a day to have fun, and the knocking of trick-or-treaters at the door may actually reduce stress levels in anxious adults.

He says, “If you’re stressed about your 401k, seeing a bunch of kids in cute costumes could be relaxing. It’ll make you smile.”

Williams believes the only real stress on Halloween comes from parents who are worried about their kids getting sick from eating too much candy.

He also says parents may stress a bit about their kids getting candy that’s laced with crack or razorblades.

New York-based stress expert Dr. Elizabeth Carll agrees and says parents can curb their candy stress by hosting a safe trick- or-treat party where they can monitor who their kids get sweets from.
