Actor Gets Major Beat Down On The Job

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actor Johnny Messner never knew Hollywood could hurt so much.

Messner – who starred on Killer Instinct – plays the lead in Spike TV’s guy flick, Ring of Death, and he took a serious beating for the role.

He plays an undercover FBI lackey who’s investigating a secret “fight club,” and he’s forced to scrap in the ring to keep his cover.

Messner is a huge fan of cagefighting, UFC, and MMA, but admits the bloody sport is easier said than done.

He trained for a week in the ring and came home sore and bruised every day.

He laughs, “I was hurting so much. That’s when I realized how old I’m getting!”

Messner learned quick fighting moves and techniques on the job, which has helped make his UFC viewing more enjoyable.

He can now “see the moves coming” during fights and jokes that he may start betting on the outcomes of matches.

Ring of Death premieres tomorrow (Oct. 17) on Spike.
