Wisconsin Asks: ‘Where’s The Beef?’

MINOCQUA, Wis. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The town of Minocqua, Wisconsin, knows how to show off their hottest beefcakes.

Today (Sep. 26) and tomorrow (Sep. 27), Minocqua is giving attendees an eyeful of their best meat during the 44th Annual Beef-A-Rama festival.

The event hosts a parade of beef in which teams decked out in crazy costumes march down the street while holding a homemade rump roast.

The parade ends at a judges table where foodies will decide which team has the most succulent, delicious rump at the fest.

Event director Stephanie Tralongo says paraders are “pretty much like cave men” in the way they show off their meat, and often chew out the competition to let them know who’s top roaster.

She says, “There is quite a bit of trash talk.”

Judges don’t usually mark down teams for busting each other’s chops, but if they do, a little bribery goes a long way.

Tralongo says, “Giving the judges cocktails and dessert can definitely sway their vote.”
