Edward James Olmos: ‘Battlestar Galactica Made Me A Nerd’

HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Veteran actor Edward James Olmos is finally on the map with the fans that matter most: Sci-fi nerds.

Olmos has been in the movie biz for more than 34 years, but has recently scored a whole new legion of geeky fans thanks to his role on Battlestar Galactica.

He played Admiral William Adama on the cult show, and admits his nerdy fanbase turned him on to the sci-fi genre.

He explains, “I’ve certainly learned to like it. I was never into any of that except for Ray Bradbury novels back in the day. Then I realized his books were similar to Battlestar in the fact that there are no creatures – we aren’t battling anything except ourselves and that can be a whole lot scarier!”

Olmos and his sci-fi crew just went into production yesterday (Aug. 18) on the Galactica movie, and he hopes die-hard fans realize the film is made especially for them.

He says, “The movie is for people who really understand the show. It’s going to show a real portrait of what’s going on in the Cylon world during the first season.”
