Art Is Bloody Expensive

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Art can cost you an arm and a leg, but one gallery is willing to take your blood.

The LIMN Gallery in Los Angeles is holding an exhibition starting today (Aug. 8) through September 13 called Blood for Art, where buyers can purchase a piece of original art in exchange for a pint of their blood.

According to event spokesperson and featured artist Michele Pred, the event is a way for art lovers to open their hearts and share something they need.

She says, “Blood is very personal and keeps people alive. An artist needs their art to live. Art is our blood, so really it’s an equal exchange.”

A blood bus will be parked on site for buyers to make their payment, and the blood collected will be donated to the American Red Cross.

But those looking to buy multiple pieces won’t be drained dry, since they only allow people one purchase per month.

Pred says, “People can come back another day and give more blood. They can continue doing it for months if they want. They’ll end up decorating their whole house.”
