‘The Blob’ Attacks Pennsylvania Town

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Residents of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, can run, but they can’t hide from a gooey, alien substance invading their town.

This Friday (Jul. 11) through Sunday (Jul. 13), the town is hosting their 9th Annual Blobfest, a festival dedicated to the 1958 horror classic, The Blob.

To kick off the scary festivities, more than 1,000 people will participate in a Blob “theatre run-out re- enactment,” which spokesperson Joan Kelly says mimics the iconic scene in the film.

The event if one of the most popular draws of the weekend, attracting hundreds of speedy people from as far as Hawaii to the East Coast town.

Says Kelly: “For safety reasons we had to limit the number of people in the actual theatre, but hundreds more join the run-out on the street. People get really into the hysteria.”

Other activities at Blobfest include a scream contest and a tin foil hat contest, where contestants try to make the most creative hat to protect their brain from aliens.

There will also be multiple showings of The Blob, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
