Nashville Star’ Reject Happy Being Like Garth Brooks

SALT LAKE CITY (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Being dubbed a Garth Brooks wannabe is just fine with Nashville Star eliminee Charley Jenkins.

Jenkins was given the cowboy boot from the country competition this past Monday (Jun. 9) after judges Jewel, John Rich, and Jeffery Steele agreed that his stage presence was “fake” and that he looked like a “Garth Brooks impersonator in Las Vegas.”

But Jenkins’ isn’t upset about being compared to the legendary country crooner.

He says, “That’s a huge compliment! There are important eras in country music and one of those is the Garth Brooks era. That’s what’s missing from country music right now.”

Jenkins says the judges were upset with him for going into the audience during his performance, which is a signature move of Garth Vader’s.

He explains, “Maybe they thought I was choosing entertaining over singing, but I was told to go into the audience! I didn’t have much of a choice. On a show like this, contestants can’t control much.”

Nashville Star airs Mondays on NBC.
