Corporate Dads Take Classes On Fatherhood

PHILADELPHIA (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Corporate dads may not be home much, but at least they’re working on their Daddy duties at the office.

The National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) works to educate families, dads, employers, and society on the importance of active, committed fathers.

The organization visits corporate offices and hosts lunch seminars where working dads are schooled on how to balance their busy careers with their family life.

Organizer Vincent DiCaro says the busy fathers receive valuable “Daddy Packs” at the meetings filled with CDs, pamphlets, and materials they can use to become more involved in their kids’ lives.

In addition to year-round fatherhood training seminars, NFI holds an annual Fatherhood Awards Gala.

One of this year’s honorees is NFL dad Sam McNabb, father of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, who runs the National Football Players Father’s Association, a support group for NFL players with or without dads, and for fathers who want to be mentors.

Past NFI gala honorees have also included Catch Me If You Can inspiration Frank Abagnale, and James Earl Jones, the man who said, “I am your father” to Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
