Treehouses Are Great Getaways – Not Just For Guys

VANCOUVER, B.C. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Treehouses aren’t just for crazy climbing kids.

David Montie is an artist who designs fully-functioning treehouses, and while many people have fond memories of wood-and- nail tree forts, Montie’s treehouses are far from primitive.

His personal treehouse is insulated and equipped with a full bed, fireplace, kitchen, solar panels, and an upturned satellite dish to collect rain water.

For folks looking to build their own terrific treehouse, Montie suggests taking into account the movement of the tree, the weight of the things you put inside, and, of course, how solid the tree is.

And treehouses aren’t just great guy getaways.

Montie says, “Some are basic, like hunting platforms, but it’s possible to build one that’s like a fully functioning RV that women will love. There’s something magical about a treehouse, and about connecting with nature without dominating it.”
