Marine Mud Run A ‘Shoe-In’ For Civilians

LEMOORE, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Civilians are getting down and dirty with the a few proud marines in Lemoore, California.

The 15th Annual Marion Carl Mud Run on June 7 has Average Joes and marines battling it out in a mud-soaked obstacle course, and it’s a “shoe-in” for civilians – literally.

Chief Warrant Officer Kevin L. Martin explains, “There’s no advantage for anyone, but if you wear tennis shoes you’ll need to secure them with duct tape or you’re gonna lose them. They’ll get stuck in puddles and trenches. That’s how civilians usually lose.”

To navigate the five-mile course, Martin recommends that racers lace up a pair of military-style combat boots because they’re the tried and true shoe for climbing walls and ropes, and crawling through the mud.

Martin says there won’t be a dry bone in the house.

He says, “People said they wanted more mud, so we soaked everything and added more trenches. They’re gonna be covered.”
