The 15th Annual Marion Carl Mud Run on June 7 has Average Joes and marines battling it out in a mud-soaked obstacle course, and its a shoe-in for civilians literally.
Chief Warrant Officer Kevin L. Martin explains, Theres no advantage for anyone, but if you wear tennis shoes youll need to secure them with duct tape or youre gonna lose them. Theyll get stuck in puddles and trenches. Thats how civilians usually lose.
To navigate the five-mile course, Martin recommends that racers lace up a pair of military-style combat boots because theyre the tried and true shoe for climbing walls and ropes, and crawling through the mud.
Martin says there wont be a dry bone in the house.
He says, People said they wanted more mud, so we soaked everything and added more trenches. Theyre gonna be covered.
