Out With The Old, In With The Hue

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Moving in together is a huge step for couples, but a little color in the home goes a long way.

Carley Roney is co-founder of TheNest.com, and has just written The Nest Home Design Handbook: Simple Ways To Decorate, Organize, and Personalize Your Place (Clarkson Potter).

While merging stuff together and creating a home that’s fit for two can be a tedious task, Roney says it can be done with the help of some hues.

Instead of getting rid of your partner’s sports memorabilia, old furniture, or neon beer signs, Roney suggests incorporating the treasured items into your living space by combining them with funky, modern themes and colors.

For example, a cheesy, bright beer sign can look great if displayed in a bathroom that boasts a beer theme with matching colors and brewski-related accessories.

She explains, “It’s about focusing your displays on a central color and editing around that color. That way your home will look more unified.”

The Nest Home Design Handbook comes out today (May 13).
