The Third Annual British Asparagus Festival is headed to Vale of Evesham in Worcestershire, England, tomorrow (Apr. 23) through June 21, and will showcase the fertile regions famous delicacy: Vale Asparagus.
Event spokesperson Angela Tidmarsh says attendees can expect to taste lots of unique local dishes, including barbecued asparagus, aspara-burgers, aspara-dogs, and the traditional asparagus dish with bacon, cheese, and Hollandaise sauce.
Among the asparagus related events taking place is The Great English Asparagus Run, which will transport the first fine crop of Vale Asparagus on a royal plate to London via an expensive, chauffeured car.
An Asparamancer a psychic who can tell the future by throwing asparagus spears on the floor will also be there.
Tidmarsh hopes asparagus lovers will enjoy the fest despite the troubles the veggie is known for causing in the bathroom.
She says the topic of how asparagus makes your pee smell is widely discussed at the event, and the stinky side effect is accepted.
She says, If it happens to one of us, it happens to all of us!
