TV Titans Put On Their Famous Faces

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The titans of television are looking good in their old age – with some help, of course.

That’s the scoop from Mike Trinklein, co-producer of Pioneers of Television, a PBS short series which features interviews from boob tube big wigs like Mary Tyler Moore, Dick Van Dyke, and Ed McMahon.

Trinklein says all the senior small screen stars, from Dick Cavett to Florence Henderson, were more than willing to discuss their TV triumphs – as long as they were guaranteed to look great.

Trinklein says, “They all said, ‘We’ll be happy to do it, but you have to pay for the makeup!’ Let’s face it, we want to remember them in their prime.”

But dressing for success wasn’t just for the small screen superstars.

Trinklein himself showed up in a suit to interview Bob Barker, which shocked the Price is Right pioneer.

He explains, “Bob Barker said, ‘I’ve been doing interviews for 50 years, and no one’s ever dressed properly before.’”

Pioneers of Television: Late Night airs tomorrow (Jan. 9), Pioneers of Television: Variety airs January 16, and Pioneers of Television: Game Shows airs January 23 on PBS.
