New Jersey Celebrates In Silence

OCEAN CITY, N.J. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Ocean City, New Jersey, is turning into the capital of quiet.

That’s because the 15th Annual Quiet Festival is clamming up the Jersey Shore on November 16-18, and the silent soiree will be in full swing.

The soundless celebration will feature events like sea shell listening, feather dropping, and a yawn-a-long to the tune of “Beautiful Dreamer,” and event organizer Mark Soifer is looking forward to hearing a pin drop in the usually noisy party city.

He says, “It’s time to appreciate the quiet things, and to do something besides mess with iPods. The festival is the only one of its kind in the world. At least that’s what we tell people.”

And Soifer is using the festival to encourage busybodies to stop and enjoy their beach front town.

He says, “People don’t stop and look at nature. I want to remind people that there’s a horizon, and ocean, and bubbles they can appreciate.”
