Prom King Crown Gives ‘Geek’ New Outlook On Life

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Being crowned prom king on Beauty and the Geek made cast-off John Gardner feel like royalty.

Gardner – who was booted from the competition this past Tuesday (Nov. 6) – was crowned king at the First Annual Beauty and the Geek Prom earlier this season, and says the highborn honor gave him a new outlook on life.

Says Gardner: “Being prom king was incredible! People at the prom didn’t even think I was one of the geeks, which really boosted my confidence. We went to the prom right after our makeovers and I never realized how much my looks could change the way I interacted with people. It was very positive.”

The crown came with some shaggy changes for Gardner, who had just gotten a slick new haircut before becoming king.

He says, “The hair was a really big change for me, but I liked it. Now that I’m off the show, I need to work on keeping the hair looking good. It just takes a very long time in front of the mirror!”

Beauty and the Geek airs Tuesdays on The CW.
