Clean Litter And Kitty Kisses Prevent Cat Poop Disasters

BENNINGTON, Vt. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Next time your cat takes a dump on your carpet, it’s not because he’s mad at you.

That’s the poop scoop from cat expert Tracie Hotchner, who has written The Cat Bible: Everything Your Cat Expects You To Know (Gotham), a book with essential tips about cats.

Hotchner says one of the crappiest misconceptions about feline friends is that they seek revenge on their owners in stinky ways, like pooping in places other than their litter boxes.

Says Hotchner: “Cat’s don’t get mad or seek revenge on their owners – those are human emotions. If your cat poops on your carpet, it’s not because he’s mad at you, it’s because his litter box isn’t clean. Cats are very finicky, clean animals. If their bathroom is gross, they’ll just find somewhere else to go. It’s natural.”

Along with fresh kitty litter, Hotchner says there’s another loving gesture you can practice with your cat that may prevent smelly surprises.

She explains, “A cat kiss is where you slowly blink to your cat from across the room to show your love. The cat will usually mimic the kiss back and feel very soothed by the interaction. They will behave after that.”

The Cat Bible hits shelves this Thursday (Oct. 18).
