Your Ball-And-Chain Is Worth Her Weight In Beer

NEWRY, Maine (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Strap your lady to your back, fellas, because she’s worth every pound – in beer!

This Saturday (Oct. 6), in Newry, Maine, hubands will be hoisting their wives on their backs and running through a 278- yard obstacle course for a chance to win their gals’ weight in brewskis and five times her weight in cash at the 8th Annual Wife Carrying Championships.

And while wives of all sizes are invited to be carried, according to contest spokesperson, Alex Kaufman, a heavy honey has her pros and cons.

He explains, “You win less if your wife is smaller, but it’s easier to run the course. The more weight you carry, the harder it is to win.”

Kaufman says a good carrying style – like the Estonian carry, where the woman hangs upside down with her arms wrapped around the man’s waist and her legs draped over his shoulders – can ensure that a couple collects the cold ones.

Says Kaufman: “The wives just need to hold on tight with a snug grip. The correct carry plays a big role for a win.”
