G.I. Joe Invades Hotlanta

ATLANTA (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Folks in Atlanta better get ready for an Army invasion, because soon, thousands of G.I. Joes will be descending on the city.

Starting tomorrow (Sept. 28), Hotlanta will host a big gathering of G.I. Joe buffs, and as many as 2,000 regular Joes who collect G.I. Joes are expected to attend.

This year marks the 14th Annual International G.I. Joe Collector’s Convention, and the invasion will officially begin when more than 300 G.I. paratrooper action figures are parachuted by collectors from atop the 47-story Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel – the highest G.I. Joe jump to date.

As event organizer Brian Savage puts it, “The opening ceremonies will make it feel like G.I. Joes are an invading army.”

Naturally, the conventioneers will get all dolled up for the event, but believe it or not, G.I. Joe camo isn’t always their costume of choice.

Savage says more guys dress up for the event as Joe’s nemesis, Cobra, because his costume is “much more fashionable” and he’s known as the “most dangerous man alive.”

Savage adds, “It’s the perfect way to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Joe vs. Cobra storyline!”
