‘Cane’ Cast Gets Pointers From Seasoned Vets

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The cast of a new drama series are getting some paternal pointers from a couple of their seasoned silver screen co-stars.

Actors Eddie Matos and Nestor Carbonell play Cuban-American brothers who run a successful rum and sugar business in the upcoming series Cane, and they’ve been taking tips from their co-stars, Golden Globe winner Jimmy Smits, and Chicago Hope alum, Hector Elizondo, both on and off-screen.

Matos explains, “We have a very paternal relationship with Jimmy and Hector. They’ve been around a long time and have paved the way for Latino actors, so when they have something to say, we listen. They just have a tendency of doing that a lot! I hear, ‘Come here, Mijo,’ from Hector all the time!”

Carbonell adds, “I love it when Hector teaches me his acting tricks. I’m learning the moves to walk and talk like him next!”

And quality time with the silver screen pros doesn’t stop there.

Matos says, “Our family dinners are written into the show, so we actually get to spend time together, eating amazing Cuban food and talking. It’s great!”

Cane premieres Tuesday (Sept. 25) on CBS.
