Successful Singer Picks Paints, Not Parties

PADUCAH, KY. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Lush landscapes are keeping one successful singer out of trouble.

William Lee Golden is a member of legendary country and gospel group The Oak Ridge Boys, but it’s the soothing strokes of his side gig that keep him on the straight path.

Golden still spends 160 days a year on tour, and says, “I paint on the road in hotel rooms so I can do something constructive and stay out of trouble. I’ve been a little wild in my past.”

His golden touch is paying off, as six of Golden’s paintings will be on display Tuesday (Aug. 28), at Nashville International Airport, as part of their “First of Many to Come” exhibit,

And while Golden is honored to display his work, he isn’t trading the microphone for the brush.

In fact, when Golden’s at home, you’d have better luck finding him in a recording studio than a painting studio.

He says, “I have a beautiful wife and young son. I don’t paint much at home – at home I want to be with them all the time.”
