Author Braves The Monsters Under Her Bed

RENTON, Wash. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Kids, if you’re scared of monsters under your bed, a monster expert has written the perfect handbook on how to deal with the pesky creatures.

Author Nina Hess has just penned A Practical Guide To Monsters (Mirrorstone), a book that reveals everything you need to know in case you ever come face-to-face with a monster.

But while Hess has no problems writing about monsters today, she was a scaredy cat when it came to dealing with monsters as a kid.

Hess admits: “I definitely thought there were monsters under my bed and used to check to make sure things hadn’t been moved around under there! It’s great to conquer my silly fears and write about monsters as an adult.”

And Hess has certainly braved her fears, and has even learned to love hairy, scary creatures.

She says, “I’ve realized how cool monsters are, with all their powers and abilities. My favorite monster in my book is this guy called ‘The Beholder,’ who’s a floating monster with lots of eyes that each have a special power. He’s really grotesque, but kinda cute too.”

A Practical Guide To Monsters hits shelves August 28.
