Houston Turns Up The Heat For Hot Sauce Festival

HOUSTON, Texas (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Temperatures are rising in Houston, Texas, and folks are about to feel the burn – in their mouths!

The 8th Annual Houston Hot Sauce Festival sizzles its way into town September 22-23, and the city’s gettin’ all fired up.

More than 15,000 “chili heads,” will be savoring hundreds of spicy sauces and competing in events like the Jalapeno Eating Contest and hot-sauce taste testing.

According to festival coordinator Carol Borge, the event is “the hottest party in Texas,” – even too hot for some to handle.

She explains: “We keep EMT’s on hand because people have passed out from the spiciness. They sweat, turn red, and then hit the floor.”

For those brave enough to sample hot sauces like “Big Daddy’s Ass Burn” and the blazing “Black Mamba,” Borge reminds them that the burning is only natural.

She says, “People get shocked at how spicy some of the sauces are and ask ‘Why is this so hot,’ and I’m like, ‘It says so on the bottle, stupid.’”
