Cowboys Rhyme As Good As They Ride

LEWISTOWN, Mont. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Cowboys are trading their 10-gallon hats for berets during three days of rhyming and rodeos.

The Cowboy Poetry Gathering is riding into Lewistown, Montana, August 17th-19th, and 70 cowboy poets will be reciting sonnets on spurs and other parts of cowboy culture to more than 2,000 attendees.

Word wrangling cowboys will gather to celebrate Wild West culture, which event spokesperson Karen Kuhlmann says is “like candy to other countries who love to see true American cowboy living.”

But it’s not strictly a boys club at the festival – many cowgirls will be voicing their own verses about riding their stags and ropin’ in their own special western stud.

And if there is one place to find a sweet, sensitive saddle- rider, it’s in Lewistown.

According to Kuhlmann, the Cowboy Poetry Gathering is chock full of rhyming roughnecks.

She says, “We get every size and description a girl could want, so if there’s a cowgirl looking for a nice cowboy, come to Lewistown ’cause they’re here!”
