Calling All Crossword Lovers

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If you’re a whiz at crossword puzzles, legendary TV icon Merv Griffin would like a few words with you.

That’s because tomorrow (July 28), Griffin’s latest TV show, Merv Griffin’s Crosswords, is inviting all crossword lovers to attend an open casting call at Tribune Studios in Los Angeles, and casting director Kim Holtzman Sloan says it’s going to get wordy.

The casting call takes place from 10 AM to 3 PM Pacific, and Holtzman Sloan hopes tons of smart, witty, crossword kings and queens show up to fill in the boxes – and spots – on the upcoming show.

Contestants chosen for the show will likely be aces at the word game, and Holtzman Sloan believes those who can solve tough crosswords like the ones in the L.A. Times or New York Times will prevail.

She explains, “You don’t have to be a total master, you just have to be up for a real crossword challenge.”

And although Griffin won’t be at the casting call, Holtzman Sloan says he’ll definitely be filled in on the contestants that are chosen.

She adds, “Merv is very involved in the show. It’s his baby!”

Merv Griffin’s Crosswords premieres in syndication September 10th.
