The two-day festival crashes Hastings, the hometown of Kool- Aid, on August 10th, and includes sweet events like the Kwickest Kool-Aid Drinking contest, and the Kool-Aid Kardboard Boat Races.
The festival hits a sweet spot in the town, with up to 20,000 people consuming 1,600 gallons of the iconic powder punch.
Event director Randy Kottwitz says, The sense of cheer and celebration is amazing. You say the world Kool-Aid to someone and they smile!
This years event, which also commemorates the 80th anniversary of Kool-Aid, is topped off by a performance from legendary singer Judy Collins, and, despite all the sugar, Kottwitz has a plan to keep the kids calm.
He says, The opening act is Kodo drummers. We got them intentionally so the kids can get all their energy out before Judy Collins.
