Famous Songwriter Likes It ‘Shaken, Not Stirred’

LONDON, (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Don Black has worked with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Elmer Bernstein, but the veteran songwriter is especially proud of his action-packed compositions.

Legendary lyricist Don Black wrote the lyrics to several James Bond songs, including tunes for Diamonds Are Forever and Tomorrow Never Dies and enjoyed the freedom of songwriting for the sexy spy.

Says Black: “I have a soft spot for James Bond. It’s such an iconic title, and it’s so exciting to work on. Since there’s an added buzz with the Bond films I get to overwrite. It’s great, it’s a school-boy thing.”

And although he’s a traditional tunesmith, Black still likes to boogie to more current artists like Amy Winehouse and Rufus Wainwright, and even confesses, “I like that Ricky Martin song “Livin’ la Vida Loca” from a few years ago. I like anything with a great story and melody.”

Black will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame on June 7th.
