After Being In ‘Captivity,’ Actor Can’t Look At Himself

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – What is the mark of a good performance?

Well, for actor Daniel Gillies, it’s when he can’t look at himself on screen.

That’s the end result of his performance in the upcoming thriller, Captivity, where he plays a man who is locked in a cell next to Elisha Cuthbert and tortured in various ways.

Gillies – who is married to actress Rachael Leigh Cook – says the scenes were pretty intense, especially since he and Cuthbert were locked in cages for most of the 10- week shoot.

Although he doesn’t want to give away what happens in the movie, Gillies says “it’s pretty hardcore” and, as a result, he’s had a hard time looking at the final product.

As he puts it, “This is the first film I’ve done where I couldn’t look at the screen because of what was happening to me.”

Captivity hits theaters May 18.
