Taco Bell Prez Tells Fed Head: Turn March Madness Into ‘Hoops Holiday’

IRVINE, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Today (Mar. 15) marks the start of the NCAA Basketball Tournament, and Taco Bell president Greg Creed thinks it should be a national holiday.

Creed figures that since as much as $1.2 billion will be lost in productivity due to workers who’d rather watch college basketball than punch a time card, the government should simply make the day the tournament begins a national holiday called “Hoops Holiday.”

Obviously, it’s too late for that to happen this year, but Taco Bell is posting a petition at and Creed is lobbying Federal Reserve Chairman Bernard Bernanke to use his influence on Congress to make the starting day of “March Madness,” a national holiday next year.

Creed is also putting his company’s money where his mouth is by offering to give away free orders of Taco Bell’s new 99-cent Zesty Nachos to every American if the proposed holiday becomes a reality.
