You Never Forget Your First Oscar Ceremony

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – No matter how many times an actor gets nominated for an Oscar, there’s nothing like that first ceremony.

Just ask Penelope Cruz. She tells Life magazine that she first went to the Oscars in 1994 when she was 19 and only knew one English phrase: “I want to make a movie with Johnny Depp.”

It wasn’t a bad phrase to know because a few years later, she made Blow with Depp.

Djimon Hounsou first attended the show in 2004 and says the weirdest moment was having a cocktail with Julia Roberts during a commercial break.

Kate Winslet says when she first went to the Oscars in 1996, she brought her parents and made her Dad sleep on the couch in the hotel room.

Finally, Robin Williams says during his first Oscar ceremony in 1979, he met Woody Woodpecker creator Walter Lantz, who asked him, “Are you wearing make- up?” When Williams told him he was wearing a little, Lantz blurted out, “Well, don’t. It makes you look effeminate.”
