Pro Sports Wives Deserve A Holiday

ATLANTA (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Behind every great man, there’s a great woman – especially in the world of professional sports.

That’s the declaration of a group called the Professional Sports Wives Association which acts as a support group for wives of big-time athletes.

The association appreciates sporty ladies so much that they’ve even declared this Sunday (Feb. 11) the second Annual National Pro Sports Wives Day.

Founder Gena James-Pitts says the holiday is the perfect chance to “honor women who are behind the scenes in the sports world and all of their sacrifices and charitable work.”

James-Pitts – who is married to former NFL lineman Mike Pitts – says a good sports wife is “supportive and willing to throw great parties for her husband’s team to help build team camaraderie.”

Says James-Pitts: “Pro sports wives are so much more than trophy wives. We hate being called that. Most of us are educated women who love men with big dreams.”

All sports wives – even pro-bowling wives – are urged to celebrate the holiday, and James-Pitts hopes even pro- soccer star David Beckham and his wife, Victoria “Posh” Beckham will honor the day.
