Katie Harman, who was crowned Miss America just days after September 11, 2001, is about to release her debut CD, Soul Of Love, which combines classical compositions with love songs set to 18th and 19th century Italian poetry.
Harman is proud of the CD but admits shes surprised that two of her friends put on the album while packing to move to another house and found it really helped the experience.
As she puts it, They both told me that the whole range and motion of the record kept them motivated and occupied, and also gave them peace during a stressful time.
Harman is used to singing live but admits being in a recording studio was a new experience for her, because, in her words, You have to retain the intensity level of the songs, but make it softer. Youre emoting less through volume.
Soul Of Love hits stores February 6 and Harman hopes it reaches a wider audience beyond the classical audience but has no plans to market it to U-Haul or other moving companies.
