Gregory Anderson wrote the script to the new film, which deals with fraternity life at a predominately black college.
Although Anderson based the film on his days at Florida A&M University during the 1990s, he decided to do what Cameron Crowe did while writing Fast Times and go undercover at his alma mater a few years ago.
It wasnt easy. Anderson says he had to avoid certain professors including his own mom and couldnt walk by his old fraternity house in case one of the frat brothers recognized him from his picture on the wall.
Despite those challenges, Anderson decided to come clean to his frat brothers before Homecoming, in part because he knew hed run into old friends and also to help them win a big stomping competition.
Stomp The Yard opens in theaters on Friday (Jan. 12).
