Scientist Trades Test Tubes For Tube Amps

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Studying neuroscience can teach you many things but it taught one San Francisco man he didn’t want to be a scientist.

Peter Arcuni is the singer and guitarist for the indie band Birdmonster but before that he was a scientist doing MRI research on human memory and brain mapping.

He learned a lot while performing experiments of African fish but mostly that he’d prefer a career dealing with tube amps more than test tubes.

As Arcuni puts it, “I did a lot of research on visual and auditory perception but it got to a point where I wanted to explore other interests.”

So Arcuni started Birdmonster two years ago and while the concert stage seems a long way from a laboratory, he feels that art and music are allowing him to express his interest in the brain, albeit in a different way than mere research.

Birdmonster’s latest CD is No Midnight and, while the band, is attracting lots of fans, Arcuni says, so far, no one has asked him to autograph his research papers.
