‘Heeere’s Johnny’: TV’s No. 1 Catch Phrase

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Johnny Carson may be dead but the catch phrase used to introduce him lives on forever.

In fact, “Heeere’s Johnny,” the phrase that Ed McMahon used to introduce the talk show host for more than 30 years has just been selected the top TV catch phrase of all time.

“Heeere’s Johnny” managed to beat out Neil Armstrong’s famous phrase when he landed on the moon, “One small step for man, one giant step for mankind,” and Donald Trump’s trademark, “You’re fired!” for the coveted top spot.

Other phrases making the top five include Ralph Kramden’s “Baby, you’re the greatest,” and John F. Kennedy’s famous statement, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”

The complete list will be unveiled on The 100 Greatest TV Quotes And Catchphrases, a weeklong TV Land special debuting Monday (Dec. 11).
