Give Golden Corn Cobs To Bad Sports

LAS VEGAS (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – It doesn’t pay to be a bad sport but it soon may be worth an award or two.

That’s because a sports-oriented website,, is starting an annual tradition: The Cobby Award, which is an award that honors the best examples of bad sportsmanship.

Cobby Awards spokesman Mac Jett says the nominations for the most obnoxious athletes in each sport will be announced on Thursday (Nov. 16) so that fans can vote on them.

The final awards will be announced in April and Jett says each “winner” will receive a Cobby: A gold-colored corn cob.

Jett says the most competitive category is probably football “because it’s so violent” but admits controversial Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens is definitely “a standout.”
