Mambo Musician Dancing With Joy Over ‘So You Think You Can Dance’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – So You Think You Can Dance airs its season finale tonight (Aug. 16) but one viewer is already dancing on a cloud – thanks to the show’s use of his music.

Angel Ferreira is the leader of the Los Angeles-based mambo group, Angel & The Mambo Kats, whose song, “Black Mambo,” was used for one of the season’s most acclaimed routines by finalists Heidi Groskreutz and Benji Schwimmer.

The response has been so strong that the routine will be performed on tonight’s broadcast and Ferreira will be in the audience.

Ferreira is seeing the benefits in other ways as well.

Ever since the tune was performed the first time on the show, his page has been receiving tons of hits from people who want to buy the song.

Naturally, Ferreira hopes the attention being given to “Black Mambo” makes it a hit, especially since it will also be performed on the upcoming So You Think You Can Dance tour.

But Ferreira sees the big picture as well. He figures it’s his duty to show music fans that a true mambo sounds nothing like Lou Bega’s 1998 hit, “Mambo No. 5.”
