‘Deadwood’ Actor Says Show and HBO Going In Different Directions

HARRISBURG, Penn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Deadwood creator David Milch and HBO are heading in different directions, according to the show’s veteran character actor, William Sanderson.

Sanderson plays Deadwood’s dim-witted, puppet- mayor character E.B. Farnum, but he says he’ll miss the show’s talented crew as much as “the steady work.”

In his words, “Some of the actors bought houses; it’s too bad.”

According to Sanderson, the show – which just began its third season – has not been picked up by HBO for a full fourth season.

Instead, they begin filming for two made-for-TV movies of the show in the spring of 2007.

In Sanderson’s words: “I feel like David [Milch] is on one bus going one way, HBO is on another going the opposite direction – and I’m waiting on a train someplace else.”

But Sanderson says his “journeyman” acting career has prepared him for whatever’s around the bend.

He adds: “I’ve always tried to prepare for disaster.”
