Spoon Singer Says Selling Out To TV Shows & Commercials Is Easy

PORTLAND, Ore. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Selling out is easy, when you come from an underground scene where no one is usually buying.

So says Britt Daniel, frontman for indie-sensations done good, Spoon, who have had their music featured on The OC, and more recently in high-profile commercials for Jaguar and Verizon Wireless.

Daniel says that slaving for the better part of a decade in the Austin, Texas underground led to a loosening of their indie rock ethics, especially when it came to selling out their music to commercial interests, like primetime television shows and commercials.

In Daniel’s words, “We don’t mind having our music on a show like The OC, because our drummer’s demographic is teenage girls, anyway, so the more that hear us, the merrier.”

Spoon’s latest album – Gimme Fiction – is also their most commercially – and critically – popular, with the hit single “I Turn My Camera On” reaching not only the modern rock Top 10 charts, but being used ubiquitously in a commercial for Jaguar.
